Traditional Chinese Medicine is the ancient practice of Acupuncture, Cupping, Moxibustion and Chinese herbal medicine.

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years and it involves the insertion of fine needles on specific points of the body to stimulate the flow and balance Qi.

Moxibustion involves the burning of a mugwort stick held in close proximity to the needle in order to further activate or used stand-alone near the skin to gently warm and sooth areas of the body to assist in the stimulation of Qi.

Cupping is another effective technique to invigorate areas of the body by applying glass cups onto the skin to create a vacuum effect with a purpose of releasing stagnation (congestion) and toxins from the body by enhancing blood circulation to the specific area of the body where the cups have been placed.

Chinese Herbal Medicine may be incorporated with acupuncture therapy by reinforcing the homeostatic function. Herbal formulas comprise of ancient combinations of plant based herbs which are used in order to treat conditions of the body. A formula may essentially comprise of 5-15 herbs which is tailor made to suit the individual’s condition. Clinically the same formula is not used to treat the one case as it is altered according to the patient’s needs, by adding or subtracting single herbs from classical formulas.

All of these modalities are used to address and manage a wide range of conditions ranging from pain relief to overall well-being.
